Around Hanmer Springs you will find some of the best mountain bike tracks in New Zealand. They cater for beginners to experts, with an easy ride through the Heritage Forest all the way up to the 2 day St. James cycle trail and anything in between. You can bring your own bike or rent one here in Hanmer Springs.

​Our walking tracks vary from a gentle 30 minute stroll between majestic old growth trees to multi day tramps. Walk up to the waterfall, amble along one of the forest streams or explore the true high country on the ​

St. James and Molesworth conservation area’s.

If you are looking for some more action, you can give jet boating, rafting, quad biking or  horse riding a go. Or try your hand at clay bird shooting. How about a ​scenic helicopter flight? For those looking for a real adrenalin rush, bungee jumping is also available.

The Hanmer Springs area provides plenty of options for fishing and hunting and the village has a beautiful 18 hole golf course, a driving range and several mini golf courses.

 

In winter our local ski fields give you all the challenges you need. Both the Hanmer Springs Club ski field as Mount Lyford ski field provide a friendly, casual atmosphere with great runs for beginner and advanced skiers and boarders. The views from both fields are truly amazing.

The Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools provide you with the perfect excuse to truly relax after a whole day of outdoor action. The Spa and many private massage and wellness salons are also a great option.
